With eight experts and a combined total of 150 years of experience, both customers and fans of Franklin’s wood adhesives can rest easy. The troubleshooting tech service team dedicates their daily operations to servicing the customer. With the team’s high level skills set, they are able to formulate non-standardized tests to qualify adhesives for customers’ unique applications and measure their effectiveness. Our radio frequency test is one such example that tests the strength of the bond. It has been used to create exceptional glues, such as Multibond 2000 and Advantage 405. The lab is also able to run performance tests to ensure our adhesives pass industry standards with ease. This allows Franklin to provide exemplary technical service to the wood products market.

Franklin is developing several new adhesive technologies to keep up with market needs. Cindy Smith, senior technical specialist is currently commercializing an acrylic EPI, which took around two years to formulate to the customer’s specific application and manufacturing process. The acrylic Emulsion Polymer Isocynate (EPI) is a high-performance adhesive designed for manufacturing engineered wood flooring. It also allows for reduction in conditioning time before surfacing, which improves productivity.

Franklin Adhesives & Polymers offers a unique competitive advantage due to the fact that we develop and manufacture our own base polymers, which gives us a great deal of control over our finished product. Our wood adhesives lab is constantly formulating existing products and polymers to satisfy a specific customer’s need, such as the Multibond 2580. This particular product works well on wood surfaces that are hard to glue, like hickory and ash.

The team of eight each brings a different strength to the table and consistently rises to the day to day challenges associated with this rewarding job. If a customer has a problem that can’t be solved over the phone, they provide an onsite consultation or run a trial for a new product, better suited for the application. Consistently ranked high on customer satisfaction surveys, Franklin’s technical service clearly leads the industry and sets the bar high for competition. As Hugh Evans, senior application engineer at stated, “superior products, backed up by superior service IS what makes us different.”
