One-Part Finger Jointing Adhesive Can Play a Big Part in Boosting Productivity

You might want to take a minute to read about a new wood adhesive – Advantage FJ-1 – and save time later, in the production of finger jointed products.
We’ve just introduced our first one-part PVA cross-linked wood glue that passes ASTM 55792-95 (2012) wet use testing for finger joints. It’s noteworthy, because PVA adhesives that pass this rigorous testing typically are two-part – and don’t offer the same benefits to you that one-part formulation does.
First, our one-part formulation saves you time otherwise lost to pre-mixing components. You can pump directly from our tote to your extrusion system without a separate feed and mixing of the catalyst. More important, no one on your crew is handling dangerous acid catalyst or improperly mixing components – an error that could compromise the quality of your products.
What’s more, our newest Advantage product is water-based and easy to clean up with water, offering further savings in production time. Plus, its six-month shelf life far surpasses the pot life of two-component products, so you waste less adhesive, reducing production costs.
In addition to passing tough ASTM testing, Advantage FJ-1 meets both HPVA and WDMA Type I standards for high water resistance. You can use it for finger joints in wet-use, non-structural products, such as exterior millwork. We recommend it for both interior and exterior use for finger joints in molding, cabinets, architectural doors and other wood components.
