MARCOM, The People Behind The Brand

MARCOM – short for Marketing Communications Department – is a team of seven associates, combining more than 103 years of experience here at Franklin International. The department is unique in that it functions as an in-house agency with a director of marketing communications, a content manager, four graphic artists and one public relations specialist. The size of the department and breadth of expertise within is particularly unique for a company of our size, in the chemical industry.
Acting as the face behind Franklin’s message is no easy feat. MARCOM is responsible for developing support materials for Franklin products, conceptualizing new brands or product related print, digital or interactive advertising messages, making changes to existing packaging or creating new versions, enhancing content elements within Franklin’s websites, and even responding directly to customer requests – all, within short, unpredictable time frames. They carry primary responsibility for Franklin International’s voice.
If MARCOM is the voice of Franklin International, then we want to make sure its team members speak every language six ways to Sunday. They must be creative, driven and experienced, able to work – and laugh – together. Where one person sees a plain drum of glue, a MARCOM team member sees opportunity to help piece together a puzzle with glue. Luckily for Franklin, members of our in-house agency were handpicked for these characteristics and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Mark Schroeder, director of marketing communications, feels that the most rewarding part of being a member of the department is the value MARCOM brings both to Franklin and to our customers globally. “Creating messages and assets that make a real difference in driving impact and growth of the company and customers has always appealed to me,” stated Mark. The message, the face, the voice; these are the people behind the name.
